The Request

CIRA’s HR and Communications team approached us to create a video that captured the organization’s mission, values, and most importantly, their unique culture. This video’s purpose was to both educate potential applicants about CIRA and entice them to work with the company, striking a balance between highly intrinsic motivators like working for our collective digital good and extrinsic motivators like their open-concept office that overlooks Ottawa’s Landsdowne Park and includes all the essentials for today’s workforce (a large assortment of coffee and beer on tap).

The Approach

After touring the office and meeting with various members of the organization, it was clear to us that an authentic, employee-driven story would be the best way to attract viewers to apply. We asked CIRA for testimonials from employees and formed a concise script which conveys the essence of the CIRA experience.

We wanted the tone of the video to be light and genuine, reflecting the people and culture we saw there. We also leveraged the diversity of the CIRA staff by using real employees (both for the voiceover and as our on-camera talent) in a real working environment and showcasing their real work and the technology behind it. We deliberately structured movement into every shot to give the viewer a sense of progress, collaboration, and innovation.

The Result

A seamless collaboration experience (even getting stuck in an elevator couldn’t slow us down) and a genuine 75-second final product that resonates with CIRA employees from all sides of the organization.
